Stepping Back

Sers, Chadette, They.

I sound just like 0xMaki, right? I do like to say Ser, and Ser Ape is one of the greatest developers I’ve had the opportunity to work beside.

With that said, with the release of the Dashboard, the release of our 5th chain, and advertising I am saddened but excited to say that my final ‘sprint’ at ChartEx has come to a close. In true “DeFi” fashion I am transitioning from “Founder” to “Advisor.” Over the past year I have spent many sleepless nights turning ChartEx from a humble discord bot to one of the premier charting solutions. As many of us who work in the space know, those sleepless nights come at great personal expense.

Over the past 6 months, plans had started to be made to enable this transition, I have a family who have been very forgiving for the 20 hour days, the ‘oh I just need to do this quick thing’ and resurfacing 2 hours later, the alerts firing at all hours, and in discussion with three very close personal friends in the DeFi space whom have been with ChartEx since the beginning — I was offered the chance to spend more time with my family and transition responsibility for the platform.

Today this plan comes to its conclusion. However, this isn’t goodbye — this is simply me saying that I’ll definitely be around the Telegram less and I won’t have much say into the day-to-day operations or roadmap any longer, but I will be staying on as an advisor to assist on occasion in the way that only the founder can.

It didn’t feel right to walk away completely, however with some incredibly talented, highly competent developers driving ChartEx forward, ChartEx no longer needs me. In fact, the delivery of the Moonriver integration was the first completely hands-off delivery stage — aside from a couple of minor tips, this was delivered entirely by others.

I can’t say when I started ChartEx I thought it would end this way, but I guess it is truly the most “decentralized” thing to happen. No protocol or token should be defined by one person or one team and ChartEx is no different. For the people that knew me, I was a stickler for perfection and the new leadership is certainly more “test in prod” — so I forgive them in advance for anything that is less than perfect, but also appreciate working on the bleeding edge.

I’m incredibly proud of where we came from, to the mature, feature rich platform we have today, serving 460,000 unique charts a day, and the numerous firsts along the way that have kept ChartEx at the forefront of DeFi charting products. Being first to deliver charts for Binance Smart Chain, Avalanche, the whole of Polygon and now Moonriver with our own customised data collection, and not simply waiting for someone else to build an API, and not compromising morals along the way, is a legacy I’m excited to see built upon.

Finally I must thank everyone I’ve worked with over the past year from Ser Ape, to Count Olaf, to Cyber Sec, to Mario. We were a small team, we still are, but we’re growing fast. ChartEx would not be what it is today without each and every one of you. May your charts always be going up.
